2013 is the current vintage of this Marlborough Te Ahu Sauvignon Blanc made by TerraVin. Equally delicious as the previous vintages. There have been some great reviews.
In 2013 was a stark contrast to the previous 2012 vintage. A cool September and October resulted in later budburst, however late November and December were warm and ensuring very good flowering. This was backed up by a classic Marlborough summer with the expected diurnal variation. Bunch thinning to 1 bunch per shoot and plenty of warmth delivered beautifully ripe grapes with a good natural balance of acid, pH and alcohol.
Hand harvested into 10 kg bins
Harvested in two parcels on the 2nd and the 16th of April
Brix at 23.4 and 22.6 respectively
The 100% Sauvignon blanc fruit was hand picked and gently whole bunch pressed to barrels with no settling. Wild fermented and aged in oak for 15 months, the resulting blend was bottled on 2nd December 2014
13.3% alc by vol | TA: 7.7g/L | pH: 3.17 g/L
Produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2013 Te Ahu offers pronounced notes of lemon curd, honey drizzled peaches and cedar with hints of struck match, musk perfume and dried apricots. Medium-bodied, the palate packs in the cedar-kissed citrus fruit flavors with plenty of savory and honey goodness in the long, long finish.
